Biography

Colby was diagnosed with Type 1 at the age of 6, he was just off school for summer holidays and we were at our summer home, we had noticed that he was drinking excess water and as well using the washroom quite frequently. Knowing all the signs of Type1 we took him to the local emergency room, he was tested and found his sugars were 48, the normal should be 5. He was then admitted for a few days to get his sugars regulated and also to become educated on what was about to change our lives. He went home on 4 needles a day and then within that year he got his first insulin pump.
He has since been leading a new normal life, regular finger pokes, and site changes, he depends on a pump and insulin to be his pancreas. He is still active loves to play basketball, draw and is a huge reader, Stephen king books are his favourite. Colby has been dealt a terrible hand that has made him have to grow up faster than he should, but hie is amazing and very devoted to taking care of himself from day one.
He may have diabetes, but diabetes don’t have him.
